A Word from the Pastor: April 3, 2020

April 3, 2020

Dear Church Family,

As we approach Palm Sunday and one of the most significant weeks in the life of the Lord’s Church, we we do so separated from one another, doing our part to mitigate the spread of Corona Virus, limit the strain on our medical infrastructure, and ultimately save lives.  As of now, ‘stay home’ is in effect through April 30 and will likely be extended.

Since we cannot meet together, I will continue to use Facebook Live to offer encouragement and hope from God’s word. Our Facebook page is Oak Grove UMC. If you do not have Facebook, you can watch the recorded message on the Internet. In order to do so, send an email requesting the recorded message to pastor@oakgroveunitedmethodist.org and I will email a link to you that will connect you with the video message.

Here is the schedule for the Facebook Live messages for Holy Week:

Palm Sunday, April 5 – 10:30 a.m.
Holy Thursday, April 9 – 6:00 p.m. (including Holy Communion)
Good Friday, April 10 – 6:00 p.m.
Easter Sunday, April 12 – 10:30 a.m.

Some churches in our annual conference might offer recorded Palm Sunday and Easter services online. I encourage you to visit NTCUMC.ORG where you will find links to other worship resources and opportunities.

My sincere thanks to all of you who have been so faithful to pray during this time of extreme suffering and hardship in our world. Also, thank you for continuing to financially support the work of God’s kingdom as your able.  If you wish to mail your offering, our leaders are gathering the mail daily.

Every trial, every tribulation, every catastrophic experience of God’s people throughout modern and biblical history had a beginning and an end, and God was with them every step of the way. This one is no exception. This will end. Only God knows how and when, but it WILL end. We are called to trust Him and stay the course of love and faith.

God is good, He is sovereign, He is powerful, He loves us, and He is with us!

Peace, grace and love to all,
Pastor Don
