Dear Church Family,

I hope that this finds you thriving, not merely surviving under the conditions of ‘social distancing’. This is a time when I am grateful for social media and the internet as I discover new ways of staying connected with you and engaged in the work of God’s kingdom.

Today I started a daily live broadcast on our Facebook page (Oak Grove UMC) where I share devotional and inspirational encouragement from the Bible at 10:30 am.  I hope that you will join me and invite your friends and family to join in too.  If you miss the live broadcast, you can still view the message of the day as it is posted on our FB page.  Today’s message is available to you now.

Our main means of staying connected as a church family these days are EMAIL, our FACEBOOK PAGE, and here on our WEBSITE (oakgroveunitedmethodist.org).  If you have a personal or private need and wish to contact me, call or text my cell at 850-381-1057.  If I don’t answer, please leave a voice mail and I will return your call as soon as I can.  You can also email me at pastor@oakgroveunitedmethodist.org.

I am also glad to report that our finance team has determined that we will continue to pay our staff during the suspension of worship services and other church activities.  This is the right thing to do.  Continuity of income eliminates a major source of stress and anxiety.  This brings me to the topic of our stewardship.

Dear ones, I know that the effect of Covid19 on the world’s economies and especially on ours, is a source of worry and uncertainty for all of us.  But I am reminded of this great promise in the Bible: “. . .  God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (NIV).

God can always be trusted to take care of His children.  He will never leave us nor abandon us.  He is good, He is sovereign, and He is powerful!  God will take care of us as He always has so that we can continue to faithfully honor Him in the work of His kingdom through our church.

Even though we cannot meet to place our tithes and gifts in the offering plate, we can continue to worship the Lord through giving by mailing a check or money order.  The obligations and expenses of our church do not stop when we do not meet, but think of this:  NEITHER DOES GOD’S PROVISION AND GRACE IN OUR LIVES!  In the words of the apostle, Paul, “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)  We should always meet His faithfulness with our own.

May the LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
