Dear Oak Grove Family,
I hope this reaches you staying warm, safe, and healthy! No doubt you have been watching the weather forecasts over the past few days as I have. This looks like a record-breaker for cold weather over the next 10 days. Sunday and Monday are forecast to be the coldest and perhaps the most hazardous conditions we have had in a while.
After consulting with members of our church council, I have decided that for the safety and welfare of our congregation, we will not meet for worship in person this Sunday.
Please join me on Facebook Live on our Facebook page Sunday morning at 10 am for A Transfiguration That Changes Us. We will explore this mysterious event in the life of Jesus and three of his disciples to find its powerful message for us today. You might want to read Luke 9:28-36 to prepare for the message. I am very grateful for the technology that enables us to meet virtually when conditions keep us from gathering in our sanctuary.
As a reminder, there will be no Ash Wednesday service and no imposition of ashes due to Covid 19 protocols. However, the message on Morning in the Word on Ash Wednesday will center on the themes of Ash Wednesday. February 21 is the first Sunday in Lent. We will kickoff the Lent season by celebrating the Lord’s Supper in worship that day.
Pray for all who were involved in and affected by the tragic accidents that created so much loss and suffering this week and, continue to pray for our church family members in their recent loss.
May God bless you with His grace and fill you with the love of Christ.
